Description
MoldPlan — Intelligent Production Management for High-Mix, Low-Volume Manufacturing
MoldPlan is a production management system built for "high-mix, low-volume, high-variability" shop floors. Whether the work is molds, precision parts machining, or custom metalwork, these floors fight the same battle every day: the plan never keeps up with reality. One rush order, one engineering change, one delayed outsourced step — and the whole schedule falls apart.
Our design rests on a core insight:
Until execution is structured, every decision is just an illusion. So MoldPlan doesn't try to solve everything at once. It builds in layers — first turning the floor into a foundation you can see clearly and trust, then stacking decision-making capability on top. The product unfolds across four stages:
Track — make the present transparent Consolidate progress scattered across machining, drawing, programming, materials, and outsourcing into a single source of truth. Sales and planning no longer have to chase people around; they can answer where any order stands, at any time.
Sequence — give priorities a rationale Re-sequence fast after a rush order, an exception, or an engineering change. Instead of a "rush" flag that quickly loses all meaning, we treat urgency as a function that changes over time, and use waiting cost to quantify the price of not doing something — so priorities can be explained, and departments stop pulling in different directions.
Predict — see the future early Based on capacity and process dependencies, predict bottlenecks and delivery feasibility. Before you take an order, you can estimate a realistic due date and whether it will crowd out other jobs; during production, you spot tomorrow's bottleneck in time to act, instead of firefighting after the fact.
Decide — take the judgment off one person's shoulders Outsourcing, overtime, capacity investment — move from "the senior master's gut" to data the whole team can discuss. The judgment once locked inside one experienced manager's head becomes something everyone can follow.
Why MoldPlan
We don't force a mass-production system onto a high-variability floor, and we're not yet another heavyweight ERP. MoldPlan's capabilities were ground out over more than a decade with dozens of factories — the many variants of labor reporting, how to handle engineering changes and inserted orders, which data to ignore so it doesn't trigger false signals. This invisible know-how can't be copied quickly, and it's our real moat.
And it all rests on one precondition: people have to be willing to use it, and find it easy. Make it usable first; only then does smart mean anything.
